A Smarter Savings Association Initiative

Every child deserves a plan for tomorrow

We're on a mission to ensure every child has a 529 college savings plan by the end of first grade — because planning for the future should start early.

Get Involved

A small start can make a big difference.

Children with as little as $500 in college savings are:

3×
more likely to enroll in college
4×
more likely to graduate

Start saving early. Change everything.

When a child has a savings account in their name, something shifts. Parents think differently about the future. Kids begin to see themselves as college-bound. First Grade Futures connects schools with their state's official 529 plan provider to open accounts. And we help schools identify community partners and funders to support a starter deposit for every new 529 account opened.

How It Works

1

Partner with us

Schools connect with First Grade Futures, and we help connect them to their state's official 529 plan provider to bring the program to their community.

2

Visit classrooms

We deliver an age-appropriate financial literacy lesson - or provide you with a step-by-step lesson plan - that introduces saving and gets kids excited about their future.

3

Open 529 accounts

Families work with their state 529 partner to open an account, and we help identify community partners and funders that can provide seed funding for new accounts.

Who We Work With

Schools

Bring First Grade Futures to your first grade classrooms. We handle the curriculum and work with you to identify 529 and funding partners. You help us reach families.

Community Partners & Funders

Sponsor starter deposits for students in your community. It's a meaningful way to invest in the next generation and connect with member families.

Families

If your child's school isn't part of First Grade Futures yet, let us know. We'll work to bring the program to your community.

Let's build futures together

Whether you're a school administrator, a community partner, or a parent who wants this for your community, we'd love to hear from you.
